mitchell holiday.

this sweet family is a fixture around here.  i've shot every milestone and holiday with them since maribel was pregnant with marley. and when someone asks you to ADD a watermark (i don't watermark;) to their photos so that you can be credited on their holiday card, well, that is one true friend.  (i'm not doing it, but how sweet is she!)
anywho, happy holidays, mitchells!

i don't shoot many weddings.  so when i do, the couples have to be pretty special. in this case, i've known julie for quite a while, and have always loved her taste.  likewise, i knew she wasn't coming to me for lack of options, but rather she had already decided that it was me who was her girl.  and so it was!

i'm so happy that i was a part of this one.  i admire julie so much.  she is a special education teacher, and works with autistic young adults.  you don't hear much about that portion of the population, their struggles, or the people who love them so intensely as if they were their own.  julie does that.  to see her speak about her students is to see her light up with fire and love and respect.  it is really incredible.  that same spark shows when she speaks of matt.  he is truly her equal in his traits and passions, and to see them together is a gift.  thank you, julie and matt, for choosing me to be such an intimate part of your day.

cheers to a full, happy life!

so much party! it was a great time. i'll leave you with this photo of matt.  totally dominating the scene, just basically ruling at life.  (did i mention he rapped to his mama? SO PRECIOUS.)

Lapremodel.

One of my best and oldest friends just purchased her first home! things like this are always exciting, but in this case, she has waited so patiently to find the perfect one for her family.  she has been calm when i would have been a mess, gracious where i would have been firm.  i'm proud of her fortitude.
but now this is the fun part.  now she and her SUPER handy husband get to rip out and rebuild every finish just the way they want! and guess who gets to help? me!

challenge one: i live three hours away.

oh, that's okay.  we speak the same language.  we've spent hours texting photos and ideas, researching and choosing.  yesterday was closing day, so now that it's official and demo begins today (whyyyyyy can't we live closer?!), it's all i can think about.  (well, the portion of my brain not reserved for mothering and loving my family (duh ;), and taking calls about another really fun upcoming shoot.  but none of these things feel like work.

challenge two: i can't help with paint sampling, and immediate "6 more inches to the left" questions.

oh, that's okay too.  although i do have a pretty strong pointing finger.  (but i hate to be bossy, so this is probably a good thing:)

i thought i'd share some inspiration photos that we're using as jumping off points for project LaPremodel.  (LaPrees + remodel, oh yes.) For me, everything will begin in the kitchen.  Once she has her space carved out, everything else will be easy. So here it is: Clean but rustic.  Modern but relaxed. Textured and shiny.  Everything all at once.

And everything so very THEM.  i'll hush now.  more soon!

this pillow just reminds me of them.  not going in the space (unless they want it to!), just purely serves as a vibe addition.  :)

lots of textures.  nothing bright or crazy, just calm and pretty. ahem, handsome.  both?
